For ALL the tips and tricks, you had to be there, but cause sharing is caring, we added a few of them at the end ?
Enjoy your reading:

We saw a roadmap of the entrepreneurial journey, in order to identify different levels of maturity, and opportunities, at each stage. We will find more and “cheaper” opportunities in the early stages.

Usually start-ups in that stage are part of an accelerator/incubator program, they should have at least an MVP (minimum viable product/prototype) with a few clients. At this stage, you shouldn’t expect a finished product with a vast variety of features, but a very solid first version of a product.

When choosing a start up to work with pay special attention to the team members (track record, complementarity of skills), the potential of the solution, the relevance for your company, the insights of their validation process, and their building capacity (The IT is done in house).

To start the searching process. Members first need to define the dimension of the problem they want to solve, and give it a high-level perspective, so that it doesn’t become too specific. The idea is to give space for surprises, and solutions you never thought about. On the contrary, if you know exactly how your solution should look like, then it’s better to use other tools like an agency who can develop it for you.

Then the next step is to give the call an angle, make it just a little more specific. For example, the business line or the specific market where you are looking to implement the solution. The stage of development of the product etc.

Then the company should define how and what they can offer to the start up in case they decide to collaborate. For example, offer to contribute to the development of the new product, go to market opportunities, validation through implementation. Your in-house industry knowledge etc.

The last step is to fill in the innovation call format, provided by LOIC. LOIC then will translate this information into an application format, and distribute it through our international network. The answers we receive by the end of the application period will be delivered, so that you can proceed with their selection process and negotiations.

Notes, and a few tips!

Time required to find start-ups: approximately 2 months.

Time for the total process: approximately 5 months

Tip: The themes of the calls should be more generic. It’s better to discover rather than looking a known solution already.

Tip: If you fear failure, start by looking for opportunities at the corners rather than at the core of the business.

Tips: There is no better way of learning, than doing.
