What is the LOIC?

The Luxembourg Open Innovation Club was born in the understanding that big companies and startups need each other. Startups need ways to accelerate validation, market adoption and growth. In partnership with the actors of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, we enable collaboration between startups from everywhere in the world and big groups based in Luxembourg.

Innovation dating description
“How to overcome the challenges of a growing country?”

Every country has an interest in smart cities, however Luxembourg and particularly Luxembourg City is a unique case and that is why the LOIC members chose to tackle it.

For example, 300.000 people work in the city daily even though it only counts 120.000 inhabitants.

How is it possible? According to STATEC’s latest report, the number of cross-border workers has considerably increased since 2016. Finding new modes of mobility is a priority for the Grand Duchy.

Moreover, the Government plans that Luxembourg will reach a population of more than 1 million in 2050. Consequently, companies have to be ready to overcome these challenges, in terms of respect for environment, economic development and lifestyle changes.

What will our future cities look like? How smart can we make the country?

To answer those questions, the LOIC is scouting for startups offering solutions in smart city and mobility.

Their solutions will demonstrate their utility for helping corporates with one of these topics:
